Disappointed with leads?
I received an email from someone today who said they were disappointed with the leads they have been getting. I figured there were MANY more people who felt the same way, so this is what I wrote back:
Leads can be a very discouraging thing. It reminds me of the saying, “People like to buy, but they don’t like to be sold.” I would say most leads prospects really want to know more, they want to start a business, but they are afraid they are going to be “sold” something over the phone and they are immediately defensive when you give them a call
If you take that thought, and mix it in with leads from companies that sell their leads 4 or 5 times (like Cutting Edge Media), your prospect is already in a defensive mind set by the time you call them.
The fact is, there are lots and lots of people out there like yourself who have a desire to work from home, and I believe if you can help a prospect feel like they are “choosing” the business, rather than being sold the business, you will have much better results. That may be easier said than done, but I also believe it is one of the reasons that Dani Johnson is so effective – because she teaches distributors how to do just that.
I really like Dani Johnson. She promotes the use of CEM leads, but I think it is because of a business partnership rather than her belief in the quality of the leads.
The bottom line, I believe is that if you are going to buy and use leads, you must put the odds more in your favor. By purchasing leads that have been oversold, you are setting yourself up for more disappointment. Refer to our list of top 10 MLM Leads Companies and research those for a place to buy quality leads that are not oversold.
